Sun Protection

Protection is daily, not seasonal.

A large share of what reads as ageing in skin — fine lines, slackening, uneven tone — is driven by the sun, and that exposure accumulates on cloudy days and through windows, not only at the beach. Protection is daily, not seasonal.

Every day

  1. 01

    Every morning, whatever the weather

A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher as the last step of the morning routine, all year round.

  2. 02

    Use more than feels necessary

Most people apply far less than the amount an SPF is tested at. Take it past the jawline to the ears, neck and the backs of the hands.

  3. 03

    Reapply

Every two hours outdoors, and straight after swimming, sweating or towelling off.

  4. 04

    Shade does what sunscreen cannot

Between 10am and 4pm the sun is at its strongest. A wide-brimmed hat and shade carry the load that no formula should have to alone.

Gentle mineral sunscreen for babies 6 months+ and kids

  1. 01

    Under 6 months: shade first

Keep babies out of direct sun. Shade, a wide-brimmed hat and lightweight long sleeves do the work; ask your pediatrician before using any sunscreen.

  2. 02

6 months and up: mineral SPF

A broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen of SPF 30 or more on every exposed area, applied 15 minutes before going out.

  3. 03

    Reapply, and after water

Every two hours outdoors, and straight after swimming, sweating or towelling off, whatever the bottle says.

  4. 04

    Make it a habit

Sunscreen beside the toothbrush, every morning before school. Children who learn it young keep it.
